Frequently asked questions
How much will my counselling cost?
The initial introduction of a 20-minute chat is free of charge. There are no obligations to book any further sessions with me after this. A full 50-minute session ranges from £50 to £85 per session.
How to pay for my sessions?
Payments can be made by bank transfer or in cash before the start of the session.
Where will I attend my session?
Sessions will take place at my counselling office in Skelmersdale, by telephone or zoom. I provide a confidential space for all my sessions; when working remotely, I ask you are in an area where there are no other people to listen to our conversation, so you are free to talk openly and honestly, as would be the case in a face to face session.
My office is on the main bus route from Wigan to Southport, it is a few minutes from the M58 and has parking available.
When can I have an appointment?
Appointments are available Monday to Thursday between 9.00 am and 3pm with some availability of a Tuesday evening. I can usually offer you an appointment within a week of initial contact. I endeavour to reply to all enquiries within 24 hours of receiving them.
How many sessions will I have with you?
Because one size does not fit all, we all have different needs; I initially offer 8 sessions with a review at session 6. In our initial meeting, we can discuss further tailoring to your needs. Sessions are usually held weekly and last for 50 minutes.
What if I need to cancel?
I understand things happen in life that cannot be avoided. If you do not arrive for your appointment, I would expect the full payment of your session to be made. If you cancel within 24hrs of your session, I ask for half the amount of the session to be paid. Appointments are made for the following week at the end of each session.
How do I start my counselling journey?
This can be a nervous, anxious time taking the first step. I understand and recognise this by offering a 20-minute initial introduction to counselling with me. This will allow you to ask questions and raise any concerns you have. This gives you the space to see if we are the “right fit” for your needs. In this initial introduction, we will discuss your needs and start putting a plan together if you decide you would like to work with me.
Do you only deal with child bereavement?
