Claire Gee - BACP Accredited Counsellor

I am a qualified professional CBT and person-centred counsellor based in Skelmersdale. I have been working with clients since 2020. I am a Accredited Member of the BACP (MBACP Accred). My background is in child bereavement, supporting families through the loss of a child. This is close to my heart, and I feel passionate about it.

My personal experiences of losing a child gave me the drive to want to help others who have experienced loss.

I understand the complexities of how life is very different, and days can feel like there is a grey cloud above you. I want to help you adapt to your reality by being compassionate and giving you a safe space to explore your feelings in a comfortable, non-judgemental environment. Having time to explore your feelings and gain proper support is essential.

My experiences of grief changed me, which left me feeling confused. After I received counselling, I decided counselling was the field I wanted to work in. Counselling enabled me to help others in a way that benefited me.

“The reality is that you will grieve forever. You will not ‘get over the loss of a loved one; you will learn to live with it. You will heal and rebuild yourself around the loss you have suffered. You will be whole again, but you will never be the same. Nor should you be the same, nor would you want to.”

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross and David Kessler

I am experienced in working with people who have experienced fertility issues and pregnancy-related anxiety and trauma.

I have experience working with parents and carers of children with additional needs, supporting them through some of the challenges that daily life can bring.

If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, not feeling yourself, guilt, anger, and feeling overwhelmed, I can help you find a more comfortable way of life.

I have worked with young people in schools, which I found fulfilling, working with students between the ages of 11 and 16 with issues such as anxiety, self-harm, bullying, sexuality, and not feeling like they belong, to name a few. I have been able to put age-appropriate techniques and strategies in place to minimise the feelings they are having.

I have worked with people who have ADHD and people who are on the autistic spectrum; I work with them in a way that is useful for them, finding ways to ease their anxieties and work with presenting issues, working in a structured, straightforward manner.

I offer face to face counselling in my therapy room. (With parking available)

I offer telephone counselling

I offer zoom sessions.

All sessions are 50 minutes long, with the first introduction of 20 minutes free to see if we are the right fit for each other.

My qualifications

  • ABC Level 4 Diploma in therapeutic counselling.
  • CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Cognitive behavioural therapeutic skills and theory.
  • Telephone and online counselling skills course.

I am a member of the BACP and attend regular supervision, which aligns with the BACP good practice guidelines. I am fully insured.
